Isaiah 9: 6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.  He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

This quote from Isaiah refers to Messiah Jesus, but it certainly can be applied as a blessing to our own government, especially to show us that if government is important to God, then it should be important to us too.  I am not speaking about politics, but the rule of nations, particularly the rule of our nation Canada.

For most of my life, I had no understanding of government and certainly no appreciation of it either.  It was easy to criticize it and to complain, in total ignorance.  It wasn’t till the 80’ after listening to many excellent teachings on this topic and getting God thoughts about government that my mind got changed and I began to appreciate and value our nation, our government and I stopped complaining and began praying for our nation and our leaders.

It is my prayer tonight that you will also get a new appreciation for the need of government and that you too will begin to pray for Canada knowing that it is it is God’s will for us to do so.

1 Timothy 2: 1- 4 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Do you believe that the word God should stay in Canadian culture?

CBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this:

86% to keep the words “ God Keep our Land” in the National Anthem
14% against

That is a pretty ‘commanding’ public response.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn’t…

Now it is your turn. It is said that 86% of Canadians believe the word “God” should stay……

Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having the word “God” in the anthem

Why is the country catering to this 14%?
